Magyar idő szerint szerda este elrajtolt New Yorkból Weöres Szabolcs (Szabi Ocean Racing HUN23) a New Europe fedélzetén. Ez az utolsó kvalifikációs verseny a Vendée Globe novemberi rajtja előtt, ráadásul a mérföldek is másfeles szorzóval számítanak, így különösen fontos, hogy ezen a versenyen minél többen drukkoljunk a magyar versenyzőnek! ️ (x)

Weöres’ boat, New Europe, launched in 2007, and refurbished for the race, is not among the fastest but remains in excellent condition. As the 32nd entrant in the field, he will navigate the 45,000-kilometer course solo in his 18-meter monohull.
The boat is in perfect condition,” he told M1 News, emphasizing the importance of starting the race.
For Weöres, the primary goal is to finish the race, a challenge considering the low finish rate in previous editions. “The next step is to complete the distance, which would also be a huge success,” he said. His preparation includes managing nutrition and dealing with the potential isolation and fatigue of three months at sea.
At the start of the race, he was in 17th place, just 0.5 nautical miles behind the leader, Paul Meilhat, after an hour of sailing.
As he heads toward Cape Finisterre, Spain, he is navigating in “beautiful winds” of 15-20 knots, with steady progress.
Szabolcs Weöres’ perseverance and focus on the journey rather than the outcome highlight his determination to conquer one of the world’s most challenging sporting events. “So far, so good,” he said, reflecting the beginning of what promises to be an exciting adventure.
