Kristóf Milák, two-time Olympic champion swimmer (R), carries the Hungarian flag, next to Tamara Csipes, two-time Olympic champion kayaker (L), at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Michelle Gulyás won the gold medal with a superb performance, while Blanka Guzi finished fourth in pentathlon at the Paris Olympics on the closing day. The Hungarian team ended the Olympic Games with 19 podium finishes in 14th place.

There could have been two more bronze medals on the final day, but the men’s water polo team and Ismail Musukaev in the 65kg freestyle wrestling both lost their bronze medal match. The water polo team were beaten by the United States by five-meter calls to finish fourth, while Musukaev lost a huge battle to Albania’s Ismail Dudaev 13-12 to finish fifth.

However, the final day was not without a sensational Hungarian performance:

As the final day approached, the Hungarian medals really started to pour in. Hungary Today reported previously that on Friday, Hungarian swimmers bagged two medals in open water swimming.

Kayakers and canoeists won the most medals for the Hungarian team. On Thursday, the women’s kayak quartet won bronze, and the good results continued on Friday. In the women’s K2 500m the pair of Tamara Csipes and Dóra Alida Gazsó came 2nd, while Noémi Pupp and Sára Fojt won the bronze medal. The men’s K2 team also did well, with Bence Nádas and Sándor Tótka taking home the silver medal.

One of the big sensations of Friday was Viviana Márton, who at only 18 years old, confidently dominated the final and defeated her opponent 2-0 to win the gold medal in taekwondo.
