Five JAS-39 Gripen aircraft of the Hungarian Defense Forces have been deployed to the Skrydstrup airbase in Denmark. The fighter jets are taking part in the Ramstein Flag 2025 multi-national air combat exercise, which will be held in the airspace of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark until April 11, the Ministry of Defense informed MTI.

According to the statement, Ramstein Flag 2025 is one of NATO’s most important air force exercises, which will be held in the alliance’s northern region to develop the skills needed to conduct joint operations.

During the two-week event, pilots will perform tasks in a variety of complex combat scenarios, including air-to-air combat, attacks on ground targets, and joint operations with other nations’ air and ground forces.

In addition to the Hungarian Defense Forces, more than 15 NATO member states are participating in the exercise, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, the Netherlands, and Denmark. During this year’s exercise, Hungary’s fighter aircraft will work with fifth-generation F-35 stealth aircraft, but aircraft from the 101st “Szentgyörgyi Dezső” Airborne Brigade will also practice complex air assault and defense operations in a realistic multi-national environment.

As the Ministry pointed out, the Hungarian Air Force has already proven its readiness on several occasions in international competition.

The Ramstein Flag 2025 exercise is another important step in maintaining and improving the combat readiness of pilots, fighters, and their crews by mastering the latest tactical procedures.

For the Hungarian Defense Forces, Ramstein Flag 2025 is not only a military exercise, but also an event of strategic importance, which contributes to increasing security in the region and strengthening the alliance’s ties, the statement emphasized.
