Hungarian Footballer Among the Best in Bundesliga

RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai is the sixth best attacking midfielder in the Bundesliga according to Kicker‘s season rankings, meaning that the Hungarian national team’s captain has managed to maintain his winter position. What is more, Dominik Szoboszlai has now topped players such as Thomas Müller and Mario Götze.

Kicker‘s ranking also included other Hungarian footballers alongside Dominik Szoboszlai. In defense, Willi Orbán, who also plays for Leipzig, came in seventh. Among the wingers, Freiburg’s Roland Sallai was mentioned, who just missed out on being among the best. Kicker wrote that “although he scored six points in four games at the start of the season, he had several lackluster performances during the season and was even dropped from the match day squad due to disciplinary problems.”

Dominik Szoboszlai’s ranking is notable, because apart from him, only Jamal Musiala was able to return to the top of the autumn round.

The Hungarian footballer was described by the newspaper as a very talented young player, but at 22 years old his performance is still unbalanced. “He has been accused for some time of lacking the necessary robustness, and when he faces tough opponents he quickly succumbs. However, apart from that, he has the class to put a twist in any match and he has an excellent shooting technique.”

Meanwhile, according to Transfermarkt, the Szoboszlai’s value has increased tremendously.

The respected German market portal reviewed the value of players at the end of the season, following the European Championship qualifiers at the beginning of the summer, and increased the Hungarian player’s value by €10 million, bringing it to €50 million.

A year ago, Transfermarkt valued him at just €28 million.

The website has also increased the value of another Hungarian national team player, Kerkez Milos, who is now valued at €15 million.

The most pressing question of the summer, however, is about Szoboszlai’s transfer. His increased value and outstanding performances have led to several rumors that he could leave Leipzig, but so far nothing concrete has emerged. He has been linked with English Premier League sides Newcastle United and Liverpool.
