Hungarians in Vojvodina (Serbia) have managed to overcome their difficult situation and set an example for other Hungarian communities thanks to their diligence, Árpád János Potápi, State Secretary for National Policy, stressed on Thursday in Palić (Palicsfürdő, Serbia) at the Connect&Grow professional conference, an important event of the Hungarian business community in Vojvodina.
The state secretary explained that 30 years ago, the Hungarian community in Vojvodina was in an extremely difficult situation, as the whole country was in a political, economic, social, and moral crisis. “They had to find a way out of this situation, they managed to get out of it, and today they can be an example for the other Hungarian communities,” said Árpád János Potápi.
He stressed that the Hungarians of Voivodina, with their combined efforts, had done everything to get out of the difficult situation with their ideas, hard work, and diligence, and that they had succeeded in creating programs at the level of the Carpathian Basin from the ideas born there. This is the case with dual citizenship, but also with economic development, he stated.
“Today our task and goal is not only to make tenders and evaluate them, thus directly contributing to the livelihood of Hungarians living there, but also to create networks and try to keep these networks alive and help them,” he said.
The conference participants were there not just because they are entrepreneurs, but first and foremost because they are Hungarians.
And it is by being Hungarian that they get the added value they need to make their businesses successful,”
he explained.
In his opinion, Hungarian entrepreneurs in the Carpathian Basin have a positional advantage over others that they should take advantage of. “A common language and a common culture ultimately give these people an advantage. If we value our Hungarian-ness, we practically give our business a plus,” he stressed.
He expressed the hope that the professional conference, which was held for the first time in Vojvodina, would reach as many places in the Carpathian Basin as possible. In his opinion, entrepreneurs can not only listen to good lectures, but also benefit from the meetings, because they not only talk to each other, but also do business, said Potápi.
The Connect&Grow conference is the next step in the development of the entrepreneurial community built with the support of the Vojvodina Economic Development Program and Mentoring Program.
