This year’s summer holiday season will see another record number of campers, with 230,000 children attending camps. Most of them are attending sports and English language camps, while the third most popular theme is military and defense camps, Taborfigyelo.hu told MTI in a press release.
According to Taborfigyelo.hu, more than half of the children will be attending daytime camps. Despite the 15 percent price increase, there is no let-up in the interest in camping. The press release pointed out that the price increase is due to the rise in the cost of camps, as well as to the increase in the cost of rent and various admission fees, but the main item is the change in the price of food.
The average price of a weekly daycare camp is 45,000 forints (EUR 120) this year, while families have to pay an average of 70,000 forints (EUR 190) for a sleepover camp. The options are very wide, with more than a thousand camps still available, although most of them have very few places.
According to Táborfigyelő.hu, apart from the two years affected by Covid-19, the number of children camping for at least a week has been steadily increasing. The record for summer 2022 has already been broken. By county, most children are camping in Pest, Veszprém, and Somogy counties.
