The results and professional reputation achieved at the National Wine Competition can be turned into business success for winemakers, said the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Rural Development at the announcement ceremony of the competition results.
The award informs the consumer, motivates the winemaker, and raises the prestige of diverse Hungarian wine, thus strengthening the entire wine sector, Zsolt Feldman said at the award ceremony.
In his welcome speech, the State Secretary sent a message to the National Council of Mountain Communities (Hegyközségek Nemzeti Tanácsa – HNT) that they are strategic agricultural partners of the government. He stressed that
in the current difficult period, it is necessary to find common ground on all important issues within the organization, as only by achieving this can the sector be successful.”
The professional organization of the National Council of Mountain Communities’ (HNT) National Wine Competition gives credibility to the achievements of winemakers here.
The selected wines of outstanding quality will form an important basis for the HUF 2.5 billion (EUR 6.7 million) promotional tender provided by the Ministry of Agriculture from the Rural Development Program,
enabling the Hungarian wine sector to show consumers the value of the 22 Hungarian wine regions,
emphasized Zsolt Feldman.
The 42nd National Wine Competition attracted a record 252 wineries with 918 entries. The special prize for the most successful winery was awarded to Zsolt Maul, a winemaker from Villány (famous wine region in southern Hungary), who won six gold medals.
