The House of Music has been awarded the title of Europe’s Leading New Tourist Attraction 2022 at the World Travel Awards, the tourism industry’s Oscars.
The House of Music released a statement saying that the winners of the 29th edition of the competition were chosen by public vote. The best of the world’s travel and tourism sector were announced at the World Travel Awards in Mallorca on Saturday.
The awards ceremony has been held every year since 1993 to identify and reward excellence in the tourism sector. Each year, nominations are received in a number of categories for buildings, natural attractions, and special places of interest across the continent, with the winner chosen by public vote. Tourism professionals, the media, and visitors from around the world voted for this year’s nominees.
In addition to the Budapest institution, four other tourist attractions were nominated in the category of the House of Music this year: the Game of Thrones Museum in Northern Ireland, the Hans Christian Andersen House in Odense, Denmark, the cable car on Croatia’s Sljeme Hill, and the Humboldt Forum in central Berlin.
The House of Music has already received numerous accolades, including the Best Public Building in Europe in December 2019, and the Best International Public Building at the International Property Awards, one of the most prestigious international property competitions. In autumn 2020, it received the award for the world’s best music-oriented property development at the Music Cities Awards in the US. In 2022, it won the Grand Jury Prize at the “Oscars of the real estate industry,” MIPIM, and most recently it was awarded the Special Prize at the 13th Portfolio Property Awards.
