Hertha BSC Legend’s Son, Bence Dárdai, Makes Bundesliga Debut

Hungary Today 2024.09.02.

The third son of the Hungarian legend of Hertha BSC (former player and head coach of the Berlin club), former national team captain Pál Dárdai, made his Bundesliga debut, reports Nemzeti Sport.

With the Bundesliga debut of Pál Dárdai’s youngest son, a unique moment and an interesting family record has been achieved: all three sons of the Hertha legend have now become Bundesliga players. His sons Pál Dárdai Jr. and Márton Dárdai played for Hertha BSC in the German top flight, and

on Saturday afternoon 18-year-old Bence Dárdai came on in the 80th minute of the Holstein Kiel-VfL Wolfsburg match.

Bence Dárdai came on as a substitute for Wolfsburg, which won 2-0.

It was a big day in the life of Pál Dárdai, as the Hertha legend now has three sons who are all Bundesliga players. Bence Dárdai, 18, left Hertha in the summer for the top flight, having played for Wolfsburg in the German Cup, but has just made his Bundesliga debut.

“What is important for me is that I did not put any of my sons in the team,” Pál Dárdai told Nemzeti Sport. He continued: “I was happy that he also made his debut in the German top flight, of course now I am still annoyed that after two excellent passes he did not score, but next time.”

He noted that his son had a collision during the match and the first reports said he had suffered a slight concussion, but Bence reassured him that he was fine.

It is also significant because it means he can join the German U19 team.

What is important for me: after the final whistle, all his teammates came up to him, hugged him, high-fived him, congratulated him on his first match – they love him and I am proud of that,” he concluded.
