According to Index, Lidl has kicked off its summer season recruitment drive, aiming to fill nearly 200 new positions in its high-traffic stores located on the shores of Lake Balaton and Lake Velence. The company also announced that selected candidates will receive special salaries and accommodation. Similarly, Aldi has announced its search for seasonal workers, offering competitive starting salaries.
Lidl Hungary emphasized its yearly preparations for the summer season, offering customers a diverse range of high-quality, affordable products, including seasonal essentials such as barbecue items, ice creams, beers, wines, and various non-food items.
To maintain its high service standards, Lidl is creating eleven new seasonal jobs in each of its eleven stores near Lake Balaton and Lake Velence between April 1 and August 31.
“As summer approaches, our store’s seasonal turnover increases, necessitating additional staff to accommodate the growing number of customers. Starting from April, Lidl will hire new staff every month, creating nearly 200 new jobs for the peak season. These positions offer a special pay package, with an entry-level gross income of HUF 588,000 (EUR 1,489) for 40 hours per week, plus accommodation. This presents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking seasonal employment, including university students looking to earn extra income,” said Judit Tőzsér, Lidl Hungary’s Corporate Communications Manager.
Applicants will have the choice between full-time and part-time positions, with fixed-term contracts lasting between one to five months, depending on the starting date of employment.
Lidl also offers reimbursement of travel expenses by public transport and subsidies for car travel. Additionally, employees can benefit from Lidl’s comprehensive health program.
Meanwhile, the other German grocery chain, Aldi, is gearing up for the peak summer season by expanding its product range in its stores around Lake Balaton. To ensure quality service despite increased customer traffic, the chain is creating approximately 100 new seasonal jobs across its ten stores near Lake Balaton.
Positions at Aldi offer competitive wages, with monthly salaries ranging from HUF 413,300 (EUR 1,047) to HUF 551,000 (EUR 1,395), depending on the weekly working hours. Aldi welcomes applications from university students for these seasonal positions.
Both chains are actively seeking to enhance their workforce for the summer season, offering attractive opportunities for individuals seeking temporary employment in the picturesque Balaton region.
