Gripen Fighter Jets Welcome Defense Forces’ Fresh Graduates

Hungary Today 2023.07.17.

The ceremonial swearing-in of the graduates of the Hungarian Defense Forces Non-commissioned Officer Academy took place on Saturday at the heart of Budapest at Heroes’ Square, reports Honvédelem.hu. On this occasion, the Air Force conducted a parade over the square with M17, H145M helicopters and Gripen fighter jets.

At the ceremony, Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky called the preservation of peace the number one condition for the country’s survival, stressing that serious forces want Hungary to be dragged into war. “It is our duty and our responsibility not to let this happen and to resist this ambition with all our might,” the Minister emphasized.

Speaking about the 303 newly graduated non-commissioned officers, the Minister said that “those who take an oath put themselves behind their oaths”. He underlined that the fact that “our neighbors are fighting the bloodiest war since the Second World War, our borders are under siege from the south, some cities in Western Europe are in a state of virtual war” for various reasons, and a breakdown of order is happening in many places in Europe, adds more weight than usual to their pledge.

Constant readiness, vigilance, discipline and common sense are needed to “preserve order and, through it, our freedom”,

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky pointed out. He added that the non-commissioned officers were starting their service in a defense force that was undergoing a long-unprecedented renewal and was growing stronger every year.

Gábor Böröndi, the Chief of the Defense Staff, said that the expanding and strengthening capabilities of the Defense Forces meant that the non-commissioned officers also had a huge responsibility. They must be able to apply, manage and operate new, world-class military technology.
