Grammy Award-winning producers Steve Dub and Matt Lawrence will host SongLab from September 25 to 28 in Hungary. Musicians have until mid-August to apply for the program, aiming to raise Hungarian music to international standards.
The project is being organized for the fourth time by the National Cultural Fund HOTS (NKA HOTS) program office for the export of light music, run by the Light Music Directorate of Petőfi Media Group.
SongLab is an innovative music program aiming to promote Hungarian music productions on an international level and to provide producer-mentor support for Hungarian talent abroad.
The program creates opportunities for young musicians and composers to collaborate with world-renowned foreign producers.
Six artists will be selected from the applicants to take part in tailor-made workshops and record their finished songs at the SuperSize studio in Törökbálint, near Budapest. During SongLab, participants will have the unique opportunity to work with three world-famous producers. Among them will be five-time Grammy winner Steve Dub, who has worked with artists such as Depeche Mode and Prodigy, and has previously collaborated with OIEE in Hungary on the project.
Also coming to Budapest is Grammy winner Matt Lawrence, who has over eleven billion streams and has worked with stars such as Eric Clapton, Beyoncé, and the Black Eyed Peas, and previously worked with Saya Noé on her song “Under the River.”
The third producer is Mo Hausler, one of the newest musical faces of his generation, who, despite his young age, has worked on famous songs by such renowned artists and bands as One Direction and Everything Everything.
During the workshops, the producers will share their experiences with the participants, helping them with the post-production process and perfecting their songs.
The resulting songs will take their final form at the SuperSize studio in Törökbálint. Applications for the SongLab project can be submitted at https://forms.gle/2UtYqzWLXGQzbfCD7 until August 14.
