Govt Official: Hunting Basis for Sustainable Environmental Management

No sustainable environmental management can exist without “controlled and regulated” hunting, Zoltán Kovács, the government commissioner for the “One with Nature” expo, said opening the International Hunting and Game Management Conference organised as part of the World Hunting and Nature Expo now under way in Budapest.

Kovács said on Wednesday that the conference was aimed at raising awareness of game management as well as sharing Hungary’s know-how with other countries.

The budget for four venues will amount 17 billion forints (EUR 48m), and the HUNGEXPO grounds have undergone a 55 billion forint (EUR 155m) upgrade linked to the world exhibition and future events of similar size and quality.Continue reading

Noting calls for a ban on hunting in Europe and Africa, he said such “tense issues” will be discussed at the five-day conference.
