Government Supports Hungarian Theaters and Dance Companies beyond the Borders

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.08.16.

This year the Ministry of Culture and Innovation is again launching a HUF 50 million (EUR 126,500) call for proposals to support the realization of the priority artistic goals of professional Hungarian theaters and dance organizations beyond the borders.

The government considers the field of culture as a strategic sector, within the framework of which it supports the work of Hungarian theaters and dance organizations beyond the borders in communicating values and strengthening national identity, the ministry said in a statement.

In the past two years, a total of 27 Hungarian theaters and 10 dance companies have been supported within the framework of the tender supporting the realization of the priority artistic goals of professional Hungarian theaters and dance organizations beyond the borders.

Under the 2024 grant, theaters can apply for the creation of independent productions and the purchase of technical and scenic equipment necessary for the professional operation, maintenance and development of theater quality, while dance organizations can apply for support for professional cooperation and meetings of Hungarian professional folk dance companies from abroad.

The HUF 50 million grant is open to professional Hungarian theaters and dance companies based in the Carpathian Basin, with a seat and operating area beyond the borders of Hungary.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 16,  2024, and the application form is available on the website of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary.
