MTI-Hungary Today 2023.12.04.

Hungary condemns the Sunday terror attacks in the Philippines and will provide emergency aid to the relatives of the injured and deceased Christians, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on his Facebook page.

Péter Szijjártó recalled that on Sunday morning there was a bomb attack at a Catholic church service in Marawi, Philippines, during which at least four worshippers were killed and many others injured.

As a thousand-year-old Christian country, we have consistently stood up for Christians around the world and we condemn in the strongest terms the attack on Catholics practising their religion, which took place on the first Sunday of Advent”,

the minister wrote.
Péter Szijjártó also said that Hungary sympathizes with the families affected and will provide five million forints (EUR 13.000) in emergency aid to the relatives of the injured and deceased through the Catholic Charity of the Philippines.

Hungarian President Katalin Novák also expressed her condolences to the Christian community in the Philippines saying:

I condemn in the strongest possible terms the assassination of people practicing their religion. All the more reason to redouble our efforts against the persecution of Christians. I pray  for the victims, their families and the community attacked”.

This was not the first attack from radical Islamists in the Province of Marawi. In 2017 IS (Islamic State) affiliated terrorists killed 174 people, most of them Christians.
