New Government Commissioner Designated to Help Refugees from Ukraine

Norbert Pál has been appointed Government Commissioner for people fleeing to Hungary to escape the Russian-Ukrainian war, Telex reports, citing Monday’s official Hungarian Gazette (Magyar Közlöny).

Norbert Pál, appointed for two years, will be responsible for assisting in the placement of refugees from Ukraine, contributing to the preparation of government decisions concerning refugees, cooperating with the minister responsible for the organization of public administration in the performance of official tasks concerning refugees, and making recommendations to the government on legislative and other tasks requiring decisions concerning the employment, education, social, and housing issues of refugees.

In addition, the government commissioner is responsible for providing information to refugees and cooperates with the ministries responsible for related tasks, the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (OIF), Hungarian and international humanitarian aid organizations, and organizations involved in the provision of temporary employment and placement services.
