The latest issue of the official journal of the Hungarian Parliament reveals that the government is turning some projects related to the construction of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line into projects of national economic importance. The line will be completed by 2025, according to Hungarians estimates and by 2026 according to Serbs.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that
the Budapest-Belgrade railway line is the flagship of infrastructure investments in Central-Europe, putting Hungary in a leading position.
In September, an extra HUF 5.4 billion (EUR 14.2M) was allocated for the pre-completion of the reconstruction of the Szeged-Röszke section as part of the railway line, which will increase the originally estimated cost.
