WLP (Weerts Logistics Park), a Belgian-Hungarian-owned company known throughout Europe for building state-of-the-art warehouses, and RaktárAD have launched its third investment in Hungary in Vecsés (near Budapest) with the support of the government. The largest area of the group’s environmentally friendly logistics park is occupied by the future plant of Magna, a Canadian-based car parts supplier of BMW in Debrecen (eastern Hungary) and Mercedes in Kecskemét (central Hungary).
“Clearly, the impact of the current investment on the national economy is more significant. This is confirmed by the fact that the Hungarian government has declared it a priority status after it was backed by automotive development. The Magna chief has already hinted that they would like to supply Audi after BMW and Mercedes. (…) In any case, it will certainly have a positive impact on the micro-environment, on Vecsés and its surroundings,” Ernő Hadnagy, co-founder of RaktárAD and owner of Had Consult Kft., told Világgazdaság at the opening ceremony of the WLP Vecsés project.
WLP, known throughout Europe for building state-of-the-art warehouses, and RaktárAD launched its third Hungarian investment in Vecsés in 2023 with the support of the Hungarian government. The group’s logistics park, built in an environmentally conscious manner, has reached the highest point of the future plant of its largest-ever customer, Canada-based Magna International Inc. Magna is present in almost thirty countries around the world and will produce car components for Mercedes in Kecskemét and BMW in Debrecen.

the 241,000 square meter base will be built from EUR 175 million.
The Hungarian government contributed HUF 13 billion (EUR 34.3 million) to Magna’s HUF 19 billion (EUR 50.2 million) investment.
On the 60-hectare site, WLP is building four giant halls of around 50,000 square meters each, mainly for large logistics companies, while its Hungarian partner, RaktárAD, is developing logistics centers specifically for SMEs and micro-enterprises. The 36,000 square meter facility in Vecsés will offer 2,000 square meters of space for smaller companies and workshops.
“Magna will start operations here on about 40,000 square meters, but the final size of the plant will depend on how much BMW will reduce its capacity in the future. We certainly have the potential for further expansion,” noted the co-founder of RaktárAD.
“We plan to start part of the production at the end of 2025. The first equipment will be installed next March, but production will take time: in the automotive industry it takes 18 months; until then, we will supply our customers with samples. We have already started recruiting for our Vecsés plant, the key positions have been filled and we have a general manager who is Hungarian. At the moment, we have 23 people working on this project, and later this number will go up to 350, which is the number of people we want to employ at the end of 2026, beginning of 2027,” Gauthier Lerouge, vice president of Magna International Inc. stressed, revealing that his company
is investing more than EUR 50 million in the Vecsés facility.
