There is a close professional relationship between the Hungarian Prime Minister and the PVV leader
The Dutch politician known for his resolute anti-immigration stance has been awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to the recommendation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Wilders is an MP for the PVV party in the Dutch parliament.
The leader of the Partij voor de Vrijheid was given the award „In recognition of his consistent support for Hungary and his work to stem the tide of illegal immigration.”
In a statement sent to Hungary Today Geert Wilders reacted to the award saying:
I have just been informed that the Hungarian President Novák awarded me the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary for my consistent support of Hungary and activities tot stop illegal migration. I am honored and proud!’
The Dutch politician is receiving his state-award for his efforts to stem the flow of illegal migration only a day after a former politician has received an international award for doing just the opposite. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday received the 2022 Unesco Peace Prize for “her efforts to welcome refugees”, albeit the debate will no doubt continue about which one of them is a villain, and who of the two is a hero.
