From Wednesday, Satys PSP Hungary Zrt.’s Gyula plant (in southeastern Hungary) will carry out the surface treatment of helicopter parts manufactured at the neighboring Airbus Helicopters Hungary Kft. plant, the CEO of the French-Hungarian joint venture announced at the plant on Wednesday.
Attila Kiss noted that Airbus had already produced more than 10,000 parts at its Gyula factory, but that until now their surface treatment and coating had been carried out at the Marseilles plant. On Tuesday, however, the Gyula plant also received the necessary certifications,
so on Wednesday afternoon the first component that can be installed in a helicopter was produced in Gyula, 100% in Hungary.
He explained that components could be manufactured, but they can only be installed in helicopters after approval by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
In response to a question from MTI, the CEO said that the plant is scheduled to reach full capacity by 2028, when the number of employees will increase from the current 13 to 50, and that by then Airbus will “provide 40 percent of their total capacity.” He added that one of their important future tasks will be to find additional customers by 2028.
At the event, Mayor Ernő Görgényi recalled that the first negotiations with Airbus executives started almost five years ago, and “the dream has now been realized.” He expressed his pleasure that the factory would provide jobs for highly qualified workers.
Airbus is the market leader in the production of civil helicopters, with 48 percent of the market in 2020. They currently have sites in nine countries worldwide, the ninth in Gyula, Hungary.
Satys PSP Hungary Zrt. is a French-Hungarian joint venture established in February 2023. The company is the surface treatment partner of Airbus Helicopters Hungary, and the new 3,100-square-meter surface treatment plant has been built next to the Airbus factory, from where it will supply markets east of the Rhine.
