Full House Expected at this Weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.07.16.

There will surely be a full house at the 39th Hungarian Grand Prix of Formula 1, as tickets for Sunday’s race already sold out in January. The winning constructors and podium finishers will once again receive prizes produced by Herend Porcelain Manufactory.

Speaking at a press conference at the Hungaroring race track (in Mogyoród, near Budapest) on Monday, Zsolt Gyulay, President and CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. said that the first phase of the development, announced in connection with the contract extension until 2032 signed at last year’s race weekend, has been completed. “The utility network has been fully upgraded and the main entrance and the building have been completed, creating a worthy reception center, with internal works continuing until November 30,” said Zsolt Gyulay, adding that the area behind the Super Gold grandstand, located at the finish line, has been extended.

“In the next phase of the renovation, we will also demolish the main stand, but the two tunnels that will lead from the paddock to the Super Gold grandstand are already structurally complete.

The area behind the main stand will again offer a variety of entertainment and there will also be a 60-meter high bungee jumping tower from the top of which the track will be visible from a different perspective,”

he said.

Zsolt Gyulay also revealed that, like other venues of the F1 calendar, the Hungaroring will commemorate three-time world champion Ayrton Senna, who died tragically 30 years ago in a crash. The kerbs of the S-curve, bearing the legendary driver’s name, have been painted green and yellow, in the colors of the Brazilian flag, for this weekend.

At the press conference, the prizes for the podium finishers and the winning constructor were presented. The neoclassical style vases, made by Herendi Porcelain Manufactory, feature a unique Far Eastern motif called the ‘Imperial Peony.’ As Attila Simon, the company’s CEO, explained, the pattern is a stylized green rose with plant tendrils and leaves, the trophy’s base color is beige and the Hungaroring silhouette appears in the mirror.

The winning constructor will take home a decorative plate with the same pattern, with the colors of the Hungarian national flag on the openwork edge of the porcelain chip, made using a special technique.

The prizes are decorated with 18-carat matte gold, all of them are handmade and their total value is tens of millions of forints.

At the press conference, Zsolt Gyulay and Zoltán Pafféri, Chairman and CEO of the MÁV-Volán Group, signed a strategic agreement for the next three years. In it, the transport company and Hungaroring agreed on joint communication, the launch of special services and the sale of special ticket products. “Our common goal is to encourage fans to leave the driving to the professional drivers and come to the track by public transport, because it is both easier and more environmentally friendly,” said Zoltán Pafféri. The so-called Vármegye24 day ticket will cost HUF 999 (EUR 2.55) and will be available under the name F1 Travel Pass for the convenience of foreign fans this weekend.
