The situation in Europe is now at its most critical in two years, with the threat of world war growing ever stronger, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.
Péter Szijjártó noted that physically, a meeting of EU foreign ministers will take place today in Brussels, but virtually, there will be a transatlantic meeting with the participation of the U.S. Secretary of State.
The situation in Europe is at its most critical in the last two years, and the threat of world war is growing ever stronger.
Western European leaders should admit that their strategy of war in Ukraine has failed, and if they had put half as much energy into peace-building as they put into arms transfers, there would have been a ceasefire long ago,” the Minister wrote.
Szijjártó added that instead, with French guidance and the principle of “the best defense is offense,” there is now a direct threat of world war. “The possible deployment of ground troops in Ukraine would risk escalating the war and would be totally at odds with NATO’s decisions to date,” he stressed. “We do not want war in Europe, and we hope that our European colleagues will not continue to play with fire,” the Foreign Minister concluded.
