“The whole world, including us, is increasingly concerned about developments in the Middle East,” Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó wrote on his Facebook page.
On Monday, Mr. Szijjártó had a telephone conversation with his Israeli and Iranian counterparts, Yisrael Katz and Ali Bagheri Kani.
He noted that the talks “unfortunately proved once again that we are in the 11th hour.”
The Hungarian Foreign Minister emphasized that “everyone can be sure that if the current security crisis spreads to another country’s territory, it will not stop there. In that case, the conflict could easily escalate into a regional war, posing a threat to global security.” Péter Szijjártó urged the international community to focus all efforts on “preventing escalation”.
