Brussels and the majority of EU member states have decided on a course that will destroy both the continent’s economy and security in the long term, said Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in Brussels on Monday.
The Minister told a press conference after the EU Foreign Affairs Council that he had once again attended an “extremely pro-war and pro-Ukraine meeting” where many “blindly advocated the continuation of the war and Ukraine’s almost immediate accession” to the EU.
He called the proposal that the European Union would spend at least another 20 billion euros on arms supplies to Ukraine scandalous,
and said that Hungary would not participate in this, as it was interested in peace, which was closer than ever.
A financial aid package of at least €20 billion for Ukraine is being prepared at today’s #FAC.
We will not be dragged into this, nor will we let Hungarian taxpayers’ money be used to finance arms supplies to Ukraine.

He welcomed the US-Russian peace talks, the mere launch of which he said had made the world a safer place. He confirmed that the Hungarian government would provide all the support it could for the success of the process. He stressed that Brussels and the EU are against this position and they
have chosen a direction that will destroy Europe’s economy and security in the long term.”
“This direction that is being pushed here, is about bringing more weapons to Ukraine on the money of the European people and about using this money to keep the Ukrainian state functioning. About quickly admitting Ukraine to the European Union without any conditions that the Western Balkan countries have to jump through and to want to keep supporting pro-war organizations in London and Paris, to want to spend money on continued technological investments in the Ukrainian military industry and to adopt more sanctions packages,” he listed.
Szijjártó declared that Hungary would not support any proposal that would lead to a prolongation of the war. “And if we look at the geopolitical scene today, we see that Brussels is becoming completely isolated, because the rest of the world now really wants peace, but Brussels is still taking an extremely pro-war stance,” he noted.
