The agreements sealed with the People’s Republic of China are poised to yield a positive long-term impact on Hungary’s development, stated Minister Péter Szijjártó on Kossuth Radio’s “Vasárnapi újság” program.
Reflecting on the three-day visit of the Chinese President and his 400-member delegation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade underscored the historic significance across four dimensions. Notably, it marked the first visit by a Chinese President to Hungary in two decades, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Péter Szijjártó emphasized China’s leadership in fundamental global economic processes, highlighting the imperative of effective cooperation with its economy for the West’s strategic economic success.
He contextualized this cooperation within a global context of pursuing peace, underscoring China’s role as a key advocate for global stability.
The Minister also emphasized the elevation of strategic partnership cooperation between Hungary and China to a level shared by only five countries, with Hungary being the sole European representative. He pointed out that Hungary’s strategic positioning among China’s global partnerships bodes well for its economic prospects.
Furthermore, he discussed the transformative impact of the automotive industry’s shift towards electric drive, recognizing Hungary’s pivotal role in this technological revolution. He highlighted the influx of Chinese electric car and battery manufacturers setting up operations in Hungary, positioning the country at the forefront of this industrial evolution. In addition to automotive advancements, Mr. Szijjártó outlined Hungary’s focus on nuclear research and development, emphasizing collaboration with international partners.
He stressed the importance of fostering peace in regions of conflict, expressing support for China’s initiatives aimed at resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Regarding Hungary’s role in the European Union, Szijjártó underscored the indispensable nature of Chinese partnerships for the success of major European business strategies. He cautioned against proposals to segregate Chinese and European economies, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration and integration.
