Hungary has been pushing for a ceasefire and peace talks for three and a half years, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, wrote in a message posted on X on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X: “We continue communication with our partners – for common positions, strong positions. Today, I spoke with the President of Türkiye, the Emir of Qatar, the President of Romania, and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. There is a principled stance from European leaders – a clear statement by the European Union, 26 countries, all with us – in diplomatic work and in principled positions.”
“And it is clear who the twenty-seventh is, always against everything, just to be uniquely “against.” Still, we are in contact with everyone, presenting our arguments to all. Tomorrow, we will continue our work with the United States and with the Europeans,” he concluded.
Responding to the Ukrainian president’s post, the FM Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary has been advocating for peace for more than three years, and Ukraine would have been better off if Volodymyr Zelenskyy had done the same.
Hungary has been advocating a ceasefire and peace talks for 3.5 years. Ukraine would have been better off if @ZelenskyyUa had done the same. Hundreds of thousands of lives could have been saved and millions spared from fleeing their homes. https://t.co/VbKCyysIvF
