In Budapest, the water level was 636 centimeters at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with a peak of around 680 centimeters expected on Thursday morning. The river will reach the height of the quay (645 centimeters) in the afternoon on Tuesday. Due to the rising water level, the removal of vehicles left on the closed Buda and Pest lower quays, which are expected to be flooded in several places, has begun, according to the Mayor’s Office.

The Rába river reached a level of 365 centimeters on the evening of December 24. In Győr (Western-Hungary), the water level is currently measured at 552 centimeters above the first degree, and no further significant rise is expected. Firefighters had to recover four cars from a flooded car park at the request of the police.

On the Tisza, the flood wave continues to recede, the crest having already left the domestic section of the river. Water levels are still above the first degree. The slow draw down will be disrupted by rising water levels, mainly due to a small tidal surge on the Szamos (a tributary of the Tisza).
