Five Hungarian Artists Nominated for MTV EMA Awards

Europe’s biggest celebration of popular music takes place in Paris on November 5. The awards at the spectacular gala are decided solely by the fans.

As Index reports, Taylor Swift once again received the most nominations at the show in seven categories. She is closely followed by SZA and Olivia Rodrigo, with six nominations each, while Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, and Nicki Minaj, as well as the rock band Maneskin, are in the running in four categories.

The nominees for the Best Hungarian Act category have also been announced.

In addition to young rap acts Beton.Hofi and Co Lee, the electronic duo Analog Balaton, ajsa luna, and Hundred Sins, a masked producer who has worked with a number of artists, are also in with a chance of winning.

Furthermore, a category for Best Afrobeats Performer has been introduced, opening up a new gateway to talent. This year, twenty-six musicians are on the shortlist for the first time.

The MTV Europe Music Awards (originally named MTV European Music Awards, commonly abbreviated as MTV EMA) are awards presented by Paramount International Networks to honor artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which is hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The 2020 ceremony was originally scheduled to take place in Budapest, but due to the worldwide COVID pandemic and restrictions, the event was broadcast virtually from a studio in London. During the awards ceremony, model Barbara Palvin and DJ David Guetta checked in from several locations in Hungary. The following year, MTV EMA 2021 was held on November 14, 2021 in the Hungarian capital, at the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena. It was the first time that Hungary could actually host the awards ceremony.

Since 2007, the best Hungarian performers have been awarded at the show. So far, artists such as Ákos, 30Y, Follow the Flow, Viktor Király and Azariah have been honored.

This year, the gala will be held at Paris Nord Villepinte. The EMA returns to the French capital for the first time since 1995.
