The Hungarian economy and workforce offer the right environment for the further development of Audi in Győr, Mihály Varga, Minister of Finance, said in a statement on Tuesday after receiving the heads of Audi Hungária Zrt.
The Finance Minister pointed out that Audi is one of the flagships of Hungarian industry, a strategic partner of the government, providing jobs for more than 12,000 people and investing some 12 billion euros in Hungary since its establishment.
Audi Hungaria is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and the Győr-based company has developed over the decades into one of the world’s largest engine factories, Mihály Varga said. He continued by saying that
in addition to being one of the largest investors and employers in Hungarian industry, the company provides a livelihood for another 50,000 Hungarian families through its extensive supplier network.
The minister stressed that the Hungarian economy grew by 4.6 percent last year, avoided recession again this year, and will return to a high growth rate next year.
The performance of the economy, the low level of taxes on labor, the economic policy supporting development, and the stability of the country provide the right basis for the further development of Audi in Győr,
Varga added. He noted that Germany is one of Hungary’s most important economic partners, and the 2,700 German companies operating in the country employ more than 220,000 people, most of whom continue to consider Hungary a good investment destination.
