Fidesz MEP Fears that EU Aid May Have Benefited Hamas

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.10.16.

There are strong suspicions that a large proportion of the EUR 691 million in aid granted by Brussels to the Palestinians could have been given to the Hamas terrorist organization, Fidesz MEP Kinga Gál said in a video posted on her party’s Facebook page.

Kinga Gál noted that the news was shocking, stressing that support for terrorist organizations is in direct contradiction with all basic human standards and rightly outrages all European people of good conscience.

She added that as international newspapers have reported, it is possible that millions of dollars earmarked for water network improvements may have ended up being used by members of Hamas to make bombs and rockets. Brussels must clarify this immediately, the politician emphasized, adding that

this is why they support the proposal of Hungarian Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi that all aid to the Palestinian Authority should be stopped immediately and that a thorough and comprehensive investigation should be carried out into all the aid that has been paid out so far.

“Brussels must not be secretive in this situation. We must not allow even one euro cent to go to terrorists, because the horrible terror of Hamas must not be repeated,” urged Gál.
