The Hungarians were 5-4 behind at half-time in the match at the Császár-Komjádi Béla Sport Swimming Pool Budapest, but in the third quarter, led by Márton Vámos, they beat their rivals and won confidently overall.

This is the 21st time since 2002 that the current Champions League winner has won the Super Cup, the only exception being Ferencváros, who triumphed over Olympiacos CFP in 2018.

FTC won the Super Cup for the fifth time in their history, having previously triumphed in 1978, 1980, 2018, and 2019.

Balázs Nyéki’s team had an excellent start and quickly took a 2-0 lead, but the Croatian team pulled themselves together and equalized with an excellent man advantage. In the continuation two more Ferencváros goals followed, Vámos and his team attacked well and effectively, but at the end of the first quarter Jug Dubrovnik closed the gap to 4-3.

The second eight minutes saw a big change in the game. FTC tried a lot of shots in this phase, but either the Hungarians hit the goalpost or Croatian goalkeeper Toni Popadić made a great save. On the other side, the rivals scored twice and went into the break with a one-goal lead.

At the beginning of the fourth period, the rival tried to come back, but FTC always had an answer, mainly through Vendel Vigvári, and

by the end of the period, only the extent of Hungarian success was in question.

Ferencváros eventually won by four goals and became the fifth Super Cup winners in their history.
