Fashion Department Store Primark Will Open Its First Unit in Budapest

Hungary Today 2024.04.25.

Primark has announced the opening date of its first store in Hungary. The international fashion department store will be located in the Arena Mall, Budapest, one of the city’s largest shopping centers, and will open its doors to customers on Tuesday May 28.

According to Index, the single-story store in Arena Mall will offer shoppers the latest fashion trends in an area of more than 3,100 square meters at affordable prices. Its product range includes women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, home decor, beauty products, and accessories.

Primark is committed to offering more sustainable products at affordable prices. 55 percent of its clothes are already made using recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, and it aims to increase this to 100 percent by 2030.

The opening in Budapest is a significant milestone in the chain’s global expansion plans, with Hungary being the fashion brand’s 17th market worldwide and sixth in Central and Eastern Europe.

This demonstrates that the region remains a key market for the brand’s continued development of its store network, said Maciej Podwojski, Head of Primark Central and Eastern Europe.

As he stated, Arena Mall is one of the largest and busiest shopping centers in Budapest: this is a fantastic opportunity for them to show even more of their customers what a unique shopping experience Primark offers. The spokesperson for Arena Mall added: “Arena Mall is known to always have the fashion-oriented and trend-sensitive shopper in mind, and aims to offer the widest and highest quality international range of stores and brands. Our shopping center is proud that the world-famous Primark has chosen Arena Mall as the location for its very first store in Hungary. We wish Primark all the best for their launch in Arena Mall!”

They noted that 2024 marks five years since Primark entered the Central and Eastern European region, opening its first store in Ljubljana, Slovenia in June 2019.

The fashion chain currently operates 12 stores in five markets (Slovenia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Slovakia). In addition to the Budapest opening, Primark is continuing its ambitious expansion plans in Central and Eastern Europe, opening stores in Timisoara, Romania, Prague, Czech Republic, and Bydgoszcz, Poland over the next year.
