Supporters of Royal Charleroi SC, currently in tenth place in the Belgian top flight, paid a moving tribute to Miklós Lendvai during a Sunday match with a huge banner, reported Magyar Nemzet. Lendvai played for Charleroi between 2001 and 2003, with the midfielder appearing in 34 league matches for the club.
A week ago news broke that Miklós Lendvai, who played 23 times for the Hungarian national football team, had died unexpectedly at the age of 47.
Miklós Lendvai started his career in Zalaegerszeg in 1991, and played most of his professional football in Hungary for the Zala team, but also made a spell at the Budapest club Ferencváros.

He has also played abroad for Girondins Bordeaux and Lugano in France, and in Belgium for Beerschot and Geel. As a professional, however, he played most of his matches for Charleroi.
In Hungary, Miklós Lendvai was remembered with a moment of silence at the first and second division league matches at the end of last week. ZTE players took to the pitch with a black ribbon during a home game, and fans also unfurled a banner in memory of their former player.
