Exciting Activities Await Families at Müpa Budapest on Children’s Day

On May 26, Children’s Day, Müpa Budapest will welcome families with free concerts, storytelling and dance performances, creative and musical activities, and lots of games both inside and in front of the building.

The events start in the morning on the square in front of Müpa Budapest, where children can enjoy a variety of musical entertainment. The “fairy-tale-dancing stage” in the Atrium will feature popular Hungarian children’s stories such as The Rabbit-Herd and The Salt, which will be brought to life with the help of puppets. The Pereputty ensemble is preparing a dance performance, and children can also take part in a nursery rhyme circus pentathlon. The all-children Veresi Ballet dance ensemble will bring the well-known story of Cinderella to life on the stage of the Festival Theater.

Children’s Day is an annual day of celebration in honor of children, the date of which varies from country to country. In Hungary, Children’s Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of May every year.

This year, the all-day outdoor programs will include a folk basket carousel, storytelling grove, Dragon’s Castle with a knightly pentathlon to rescue the princess, a game of skill and courage, and fresh bread will be baked in the farmyard oven.

In addition to traditional folk games, children can also try out classic logic and skill games and exercises to develop emotional intelligence, as well as games to simulate visual and hearing impairment to build empathy. Creative activities will include making a textile bird, a fruit puppet, beading, folding origami flowers, sewing hedgehogs, and painting postcards.

Children with a musical interest can enjoy musical development sessions, instrumental simulation, and instrument making workshops, while for the little ones there will be a mats wall, a “baby kitchen” and a lab on the Baby Island, where there will also be storytelling and puppet shows.
