Europe’s Music Professionals Gather in Budapest in June

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.05.31.

Almost 200 music professionals will come to Budapest for three events in June: the Bach 2 Future classical music conference at Müpa Budapest, the workshop of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) at the Liszt Academy, and the European Music Council (EMC) professional forum at the Hungarian House of Music.

The Bach 2 Future classical music conference will take place from June 6 – 7, the enCORE Accelerando workshop for young classical music managers will be organized by the JMI on June 4 and 5, and the EMC’s 50th-anniversary forum will be held between June 8 – 10.

The European Forum on Music (EFM) is the most important European event for the music profession: the European Music Council is the umbrella organization of not only the music councils of the member countries, but also international organizations representing different sub-sectors, including festivals, orchestras, radio stations, and music schools.

As the statement points out, what makes the event special, in addition to the 50th anniversary of the EMC, is that it will be the first live meeting since the Paris Forum in 2019. The conference, entitled Sustain Music, will be followed by the EMC’s Annual General Meeting.
