European Institutions Infected with Corruption, according to Fidesz MEP

Hungary Today 2023.02.22.

An MEP of Hungary’s governing Fidesz party reacted to Vera Jourová’s claim that European taxpayers do not want EU funds to come to Hungary.

European Commission Vice-President Vera Jourová said last week that European taxpayers do not want EU money to go to a place where there is “a problem with the rule of law,” Mandiner reported.

Fidesz MEP Tamás Deutsch told the news site that contrary to Jourová’s claim,

what European taxpayers want is an end to corruption in Brussels.

“Brussels is the capital of corruption in Europe,” Deutsch claimed, adding that corruption has infected all EU institutions. He said that the tip of the iceberg has become visible with the criminal proceedings that have been launched.

“Jourová’s statement is more than outrageous, because the European Union has an incredibly sophisticated system of institutions to prevent and detect corruption, with an immense number of people working in this field, and yet the whole system has proved blind to the corruption in Brussels,” the MEP noted.

According to Tamás Deutsch, Jourová’s political bias is on the verge of hungarophobia.
