Justice Min: EU Institutions’ ‘Power Struggle’ Making Future Hopeless

A “continuous power struggle” between the European Parliament and the European Commission is “not only politically detrimental but will also undermine people’s trust in EU institutions”, Justice Minister Judit Varga said on Facebook on Friday.

Those conflicts make the EU’s future hopeless, Varga said. The “incessant rivalry and blackmail” has now led to the EP’s seeking to sue the EC because the latter would “not apply the rule of law for blackmail against Hungary and Poland”.

“How should we be building the future of Europe, if it is the very institutions of the EU that are in a total confusion about their own role?” the minister asked.
