EU Migration Policy Could Have Irreversible Consequences, Warns State Secretary

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.03.01.

There will be irreversible consequences if there is no change of direction in Brussels’ migration policy, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office said in a video posted on his social media page.

Csaba Dömötör drew attention to the fact that several “foreign-backed media” have recently criticized the Hungarian government for publishing advertisements abroad presenting its position on migration. He believes that it is important for citizens of other countries to be informed about what is happening at our southern borders,

as these videos also show how young migrants attack police officers and how tens of thousands of people try to cross the southern border illegally.

According to Dömötör, 173,000 people tried to cross the border last year alone.

He also pointed out that while Hungary also protects the borders of the European Union, no financial support for border fencing has been received from Brussels, which is why the government considers it important that its voice is heard elsewhere, and wants to see a change in this.

The situation is even more serious than the fact that no money is being given for the border fence, because

if the new migration package is finalized, the distribution of migrants in Europe will come into force, and under the new procedures, migrants would have to be admitted before the end of the asylum procedures.”

“At the same time,” he added, “the same foreign-backed activist groups are supporting the new migration pact who are attacking the Hungarian government for making its voice heard abroad.”

They are pretending that helpless refugees are arriving at Hungary’s borders, but it is the very videos presented by the government that prove that people with terrorist intentions are coming, increasingly with weapons, he stressed. “Under these circumstances, no one should expect us to remain silent,” the State Secretary said, adding that they will continue to say that Hungary is using double force to protect its borders. “If hundreds of thousands of people continue to arrive uncontrolled, there will be serious security, economic, and social consequences,” Dömötör stated.
