The Erasmus+ program has not and will not cease to exist in Hungary, said the Deputy State Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation at the opening of Erasmus Days.
Veronika Varga-Bajusz said that in light of the European Commission’s decision, the celebration of Erasmus Days is of particular importance this year, as it will draw even more attention to the significance and values of the program.
The Ministry, the Tempus Public Foundation, responsible for the implementation of the Erasmus+ program in Hungary, and the model universities are all doing their utmost to ensure that the Erasmus+ program can be maintained in these institutions and that future generations of students can benefit from this excellent scholarship opportunity,
she underlined.
She pointed out that Hungarian students had been an integral part of European universities since the 13th century and that this link could not be broken. Their aim is to ensure that more and more Hungarian students gain international experience and put it to good use at home, she said.

Erasmus trips will continue until June 30, 2024, she said, and international mobility opportunities for students and teachers will continue to be offered.
All the conditions are in place and there will be no delays for students and teachers, she added. The resources are available for the institutions, she continued, adding that in August of this year the Tempus Public Foundation decided to allocate HUF 1.8 billion (EUR 4.7 million) to the model-changing universities, covering the international programs even beyond the planned increase.
The Erasmus Days are a good opportunity to demonstrate that “Erasmus+ has not and will not cease to exist in Hungary,” the Deputy State Secretary said, adding that the 36-year-old program is now present in many sectors, such as public education, adult education, youth and vocational training, sports, and higher education.
This year, 100 events will be organized in Hungary as part of the international program. The organizers have prepared a program of talks, interactive workshops, information days, online events, challenges, and methodological presentations,” she shared at the event.
