Elon Musk Supports Former President Novák’s Fight against Global Birth Rate Decline

Hungary Today 2024.09.26.

A few weeks ago, former Hungarian President Katalin Novák announced her return on X as the founding CEO of a non-profit organization dedicated to tackling the global demographic crisis. She recently shared a photo with Elon Musk and the Italian Prime Minister on X, suggestively captioning it with a key message of her new organization: “only children can save the World.”

As reported by Hungary Today, Katalin Novák announced her new position as co-founder and CEO of the non-profit organization X·Y Worldwide in early September. Her new organization, co-founded with Stephen J. Shaw, an internationally renowned demographer and documentary filmmaker, aims to find solutions to a collapsing global birthrate.

X·Y Worldwide works with world leaders, policy makers and educators to develop evidence-based, sustainable strategies to help nations overcome the impact of global birthrate decline,”

wrote the former president.

In mid-September, Katalin Novák visited South Korea, to present the work and objectives of her new organization and to enhance the image of Hungary. At the event, she used the example of Hungary to show how the problem of low birth rates can be overcome. In South Korea, fertility data for the last decade shows that Hungary has managed to tackle the problem of low birth rates, a constant challenge for developed countries in the Far East. “Seoul is one of the cities with the lowest birth rates in the world, with a Total Fertility Rate of 0.55,” she wrote in a post on X.

The latest photo that the former Hungarian president published on X shows her in the company of two well-known personalities, alongside Elon Musk and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Inspiring long discussion with two friends and allies,”

she wrote, adding, “X·Y Worldwide was launched to combat population collapse.”

The photo was taken at the Global Citizen Awards of the renowned U.S. think tank Atlantic Council in New York. At the event, Elon Musk presented Giorgia Meloni with the Global Citizen Prize. The Italian prime minister received the honor during a gala dinner in recognition of her “groundbreaking role as Italy’s first female prime minister, her strong support of the European Union and the transatlantic alliance, and her 2024 chairmanship of the Group of Seven,” The Guardian writes.

The meeting between Katalin Novák, Giorgia Meloni and Elon Musk reportedly discussed Musk joining the X·Y Worldwide supporters,

as he himself sees the demographic crisis as the most important challenge facing humanity, rooted in the gap between the number of children planned and actually born, Mandiner writes.

Katalin Novák last met with Elon Musk a year ago. Novák, who was still President at the time, received the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX in Hungary in September last year. After their meeting, Elon Musk summarized the discussion by writing in a post on X “having children is saving the world.”
