Transylvanian Historic Music Festival Takes off on Saturday

The Early Music Festival in Csíkszereda (Miercurea Ciuc) starts today, and its traditional accompanying event, the Summer University of Early Music on Sunday. According to the organizers, the event is offering the audience a real time travel to the golden age of Transylvania reports maszol.ro.

The concerts will evoke the music of the 16th and 17th century, one of the most significant periods in Transylvanian music history.

The festival and the various accompanying events all recall this period in some way, and all ages and all types of people will find something interesting on offer.

The celebration of the festival, which has over 40 years of history, is coupled with the celebration of the 400-year-old Mikó Castle, one of the host venues, an important event in the cultural life of the city.

T he main theme of the festival is the 17th century, which brought a change of style and era in Europe, from the Renaissance to the early Baroque.

This year’s program will welcome performers from all over Europe, offering both sacred and secular music.
