Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with former US President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, at Mr. Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
The Hungarian delegation led by Viktor Orbán arrived at the site at 5 p.m. local time, where they held talks with Donald Trump and his staff for an hour. After the meeting, the program continued with a joint dinner and a concert.
“My meeting with President Donald Trump is over” – informed Viktor Orbán in a video uploaded on social media after his U.S. visit.
“President Trump was a president of peace. He commanded respect in the world and thus created the conditions for peace. During his presidency there was peace in the Middle East and peace in Ukraine. There would be no war today if he were still President of the United States. We agreed that there will be peace when there are world leaders who want peace. I am proud that Hungary is one of those countries” – The Hungarian Prime Minister said in his personal message.
We also agreed that there is still a lot of potential in US-Hungarian economic relations. Although our trade turnover has exceeded $9 billion, we do not want to stop there, and when the President returns (to office), we will give a new impetus to US-Hungarian trade relations. Here in America, the campaign is in full swing, and is rushing ahead. It is up to the Americans to make their own decision, and it is up to us Hungarians to admit frankly that it would be better for the world and better for Hungary if President Donald Trump were to return – Mr Orbán concluded.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, accompanied by Viktor Orbán, visited Donald Trump’s residence in Florida.
“There is no great debate among those who follow world politics: a strong US president always brings a sense of stability and security to the world. And with Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the United States of America would once again have a strong president” – said the minister on his social media page.
