Donald Trump believes his endorsement of Viktor Orbán prior to the 2022 parliamentary election in Hungary was a major factor in the reelected prime minister’s landslide victory.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump claimed that his support for Orbán sparked a jump in the Hungarian prime minister’s popularity.
After I endorsed him, he went up like a rocket ship.”
The former president of the United States mentioned that Orbán had called to thank him for the endorsement and even credited Trump with the win.
“These other leaders, they want endorsements,” Trump explained. “I’m the king of endorsements. It’s more than just this country. It’s other countries.”
