Dominik Szoboszlai is one of the best known Hungarian footballers, currently playing for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. The young athlete was recently interviewed by Index, where he discussed the challenges he faces, his role as captain of the Hungarian national team, and of course his future, among other things.
In the interview, Dominik Szoboszlai talked about his childhood, which was full of sacrifices in order to become an athlete. He said that while his contemporaries went out partying, he was on the bus early in the mornings to go to training, but at the time he did not feel that his life was not ordinary. “On the outside, a lot of people might think that success came easy because I was talented, but that is not the case at all. I do not think many people could have taken what I took,” he said.

The footballer highlighted that for him, the biggest lesson in football was that if you do something, you should always give 100 percent.
He added that he was only driven more by the fact that nothing fell into his lap, but that he worked for everything.
Szoboszlai also spoke about his experience of playing for Leipzig. He said that after Marco Rose took over as coach, his position positively changed within the team. Rose knew Szoboszlai since he was a child and they have a good relationship. The young talent was given the confidence and did his best to repay it with his performance.
It is interesting to note that the manager of the Hungarian national team, Marco Rossi, also has the same first name, and Szoboszlai learned a lot from him as well. As he says, Rossi was the first one who dared to put him in the national team at a young age and for whom he was able to become a key player, becoming team captain at the age of 21.
Another ongoing topic is Szoboszlai’s future, and which team he might join.
He did not want to speculate on this, saying that if there was interest in him, he would consider it, not because he would not have a good career in Leipzig, but because he has always been interested in challenges.
As he said, there’s the question of if he can now take a step towards one of Europe’s top five or six clubs, and how could he say no to the challenge, since he has never been that type.
In the interview, Szoboszlai also talked about his personal life, as he and his girlfriend have recently got a dog together, which, according to the athlete, is an important precursor to having children in the future. As he said, there are no concrete plans for a child yet, but he would not mind to be a father at a young age.
