Dominik Szoboszlai Becomes the Face of a Global Brand

Hungary Today 2024.05.03.

Dominik Szoboszlai, the captain of the Hungarian national football team, after signing a contract with Telekom, has signed a contract with another global brand. According to a Facebook post by McDonald’s, the footballer, who is preparing for the European Championship in Germany, has become the face of the company’s advertising campaign.

The picture uploaded to Facebook suggests that the Hungarian star of Liverpool will be the next face of McDonald’s advertisement campaign, writes Világgazdaság.

Dominik Szoboszlai made 42 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season, winning the EFL Cup. However, in the spring, the team of Jürgen Klopp, who is leaving at the end of the season, went downhill, and after the FA Cup knockout, they were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, and in the Premier League they are practically out of the title race. Liverpool is currently five points behind leading team Arsenal and four points behind second-placed Manchester City.

Szoboszlai is not the only Hungarian football player to collaborate with a fast food restaurant: a Burger King ad featuring the now-retired Ádám Szalai with singer Péter Marics and rapper Milán Valkusz recently debuted.

In the commercial, Szalai, who has been training at Real Madrid’s youth academy, motivates his team as a strict coach, who are inspired by his words of encouragement to get into burger-making.

It is clear to see that the biggest companies are already gearing up their campaigns for the European Championship in Germany this summer, where the Hungarian national team will be in Group A. Marco Rossi’s team will start against the Swiss in Cologne on June 15, before playing host team Germany in Stuttgart on June 19, and then the Scots on June 23. The top two from each group will progress to the semi-finals.

The European Championships in Germany will take place from June 14 to July 14 in ten German cities: Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Dortmund, Cologne, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Gelsenkirchen, with the final in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.
