Domestic Food Producers Aim to Conquer New Markets in Dubai

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.02.20.

This year, 23 Hungarian companies are exhibiting at Gulfood, one of the world’s largest food industry trade fairs in Dubai, announced the Agricultural Marketing Center (AMC).

According to the statement, the Hungarian participants of the event have put together a range of products with a good chance of attracting the interest of buyers. AMC’s stand features honey, foie gras, herbal teas, oil seeds, energy drinks, dairy products, frozen fruit, and vegetables, and several of them were entered in the competition for the best innovative products.

Gulfood is an important meeting place for businesses targeting Middle Eastern markets, covering the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region from Africa to India. Last year, more than 5,000 exhibitors from 125 countries presented their products to almost 140,000 trade visitors. The organizers hope to stage the world’s largest food trade show again this year.

As a sign of the market’s changing direction, a “Healthy,” “Wellness” and “Free-from” sector has recently been created and the confectionery category has been removed from the show’s list of products.

The Hungarian Food Business Program, the export development arm of the Agricultural Marketing Center, will also be present at the exhibition with a registration desk to register foreign buyers interested in Hungarian products. The database currently includes 219 Hungarian food manufacturing companies with more than 2,000 products, 364 foreign sourcing companies, and 129 other users, typically embassies, consulates general, and professional organizations.

The event’s website states,

the 29th Gulfood will run between February 19-23, with awards being handed out to exhibitors in 10 categories.

The top meat and poultry products category includes a Hungarian participant, with Royalpaté Kft.’s truffled foie gras product being one of the four best products in its category, according to the list of the most outstanding food products.
