János Csák accepted the withdrawal of Attila Vidnyánszky’s resignation, following the conclusion of an investigation into the accident at the National Theater, revealing that no one was solely responsible for the incident.

The internal investigation into the accident at the National Theater on November 10 has been closed. Attila Vidnyánszky, the director of the National Theater, has withdrawn his resignation, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation told Magyar Nemzet.

The National Theater’s investigative committee concluded that no one can be held individually responsible for the accident.

János Csák, Minister of Culture and Innovation, accepted the withdrawal of Attila Vidnyánszky’s earlier resignation.

As Hungary Today reported earlier, on November 10, two artists of the National Theater, Júlia Szász and Lajos Ottó Horváth, had an accident during the performance of Romeo and Juliet. The performance was interrupted, the two actors were hospitalized, and the theater’s general director, Attila Vidnyánszky, announced that he was resigning from his post. However, János Csák, the Minister of Culture and Innovation, said that he would only deal with the announcement after the theater and police investigation into the accident had been completed.

Following the incident, many prominent members of the public and the theater world have called on Mr. Vidnyánszky to continue his work as director and to continue to lead the National Theater.

The actors involved in the accident have since been discharged from the hospital and are recovering at home. Lajos Ottó Horváth has already started working again: he took part in the dubbing of the Hungarian adventure film, Now or Never (Most vagy soha!) that was shot earlier.
