Digital Citizenship Program to Eliminate the Need for ID Cards

Hungary Today 2024.07.29.

The Digital Citizenship program is launched, and from autumn onward it will be possible to manage more and more administrative tasks via mobile phones, Magyar Nemzet reports. In a video posted on the social media page of the Hungarian government, Csaba Dötömötör, Parliamentary State Secretary, announced that pre-registration has already started.

The politician stressed that from September we will be able to identify ourselves to police using our mobile phones, and we will not have to carry our ID with us. He explained that a mobile application will allow us to find our personal data in one place, download and transmit them in an authenticated way, making administration easier.

It will also be possible to use the app for digital signatures, that will be considered as a private authentic document, accepted in all EU countries,”

said Csaba Dömötör.

The politician noted that from autumn, the new application would allow users to apply for a certificate of good conduct at the touch of a button, which would be the first type of digital documents in Hungary.

The new application will also make it possible to book appointments for the most popular types of cases at government offices from a mobile phone.

Csaba Dömötör urges everyone to register if they want to manage their administrative tasks via their mobile phone without queuing.
