Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said at the 5th Bocskai István Rifle Brigade of the Hungarian Defense Forces in Debrecen on Tuesday: “I would like to see more young people taking up a stable, predictable military career that offers a secure livelihood.”
The Minister made the remarks in front of 23 students from Kedvesház and their chaperones who visited the barracks. In Nyírtelek, in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, an educational program has been running since the 1990s, which provides dormitories for children from difficult family circumstances on the outskirts of the settlement.
The young people, who took part in the visit as part of their institution’s career guidance service, were also shown military equipment, some of which they were able to try out.
Szalay-Bobrovniczky stressed that the demonstration for young people is an important initiative of the Defense Forces, as getting to know military equipment is a great experience for children and such events also serve a patriotic education.
The Minister praised the soldiers of the Rifle Brigade, whom he said are involved in the fight against migratory pressure on the southern border, and from February this year, in the protection of the eastern border.
