The training of defense reservists is progressing with eighty-six new recruits beginning their five-week training program near Budapest, reports honvedelem.hu.

The current training phase is crucial for preparing these recruits to handle various military tasks. This marks a significant step in the effort to strengthen Hungary’s territorial defense capabilities. The reservist program, which was initiated in 2017, has developed considerably since its inception. Last year, seven reserve regiments were established, supported by 21 battalions across the country.

The recent recruitment campaign, titled I Love, I Will Protect!, launched in June, generated substantial interest, leading to training sessions being held in 21 garrisons.

Looking ahead, the Hungarian Defense Forces are set to accommodate and train larger numbers of reserve personnel as the program evolves.

Overall, the continued enlistment and training of reservists underscore the country’s commitment to enhancing its defense readiness. The program’s growth aims to improve the capacity to address various security challenges effectively.
